Position Summary:
The Grade 5 Administrator will provide logistic and operational oversight to streamline and enhance the national delivery of Service for Motor Neuron Disease. This will include the development and implementation of enhanced operational processes to coordinate the weekly clinic, and to improve the quality of service and the patient and caregiver experience.
The post will link with the Academic Unit of Neurology (0.5WTE) and will be responsible for the ongoing management of the national ALS/MND Register, and will provide administrative support for investigator led and pharma supported clinical studies and trials,
The post will work closely with the ALS/MND Advanced Nurse Practioners and clinical nurse specialists , and will include regular liaison with external organisations (IMNDA) and with satellite centres in Cork and Galway where appropriate, and with the ALS/MND Research Management team under the supervision of the National Director of the MND Clinical and Research Programme (currently Prof. Hardiman, co-located at Beaumont Hospital and TCD).
Grade 5 Administrator National MND Service
The primary purpose will be to enhance the operation of the national service, to improve the operational efficiency of the face to face clinics by maximising the benefit of engagement of specialist clinical professionals, and to enhance the patient and caregiver experience by harnessing available technologies that improve communication and knowledge exchange between professionals. This will be achieved in collaboration with the Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
The post will also oversee data collection relating to the ALS/MND Register based at Trinity College Dublin,
The post will work closely with the Advanced Nurse Practitioners in AL/MND and the specialist MND Clinical team including Clinical Professionals and MND Specialist Nurses, and Nursing coordinators within the clinical trial group. The post provide oversight in consenting patients for the National Register, and will collate and provide general information about clinical studies currently recruiting,
The successful candidate will need to have excellent time and task management skills. The role will require flexibility.
The post will report to the Director of the ALS/MND service (Prof. Hardiman)
Selection Criteria:
Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post.

Mandatory:
• Minimum three year previous experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in clinical research or neurodegenerative therapeutic area.
• Highly motivated, enthusiastic with skills and experience in the area of healthcare administration.
• Interest in applied research and integration into clinical practice and knowledge of clinical research trial administration, and requirements for GCP (good clinical practice) guidelines.
• Knowledge of GDPR and its application to Healthcare and health related research.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with vulnerable groups with patience and empathy.
• Excellent communication skills – oral and written.
• Experience with EXCEL and database files.
• Experience in data collection and data entry in a clinical setting.
• Ability to work with multiple groups and projects, and time manage accordingly.
• Willingness to undertake training and development as identified in order to progress personal and professional development.
• Awareness and key policies and procedures to include access to services, Health and Safety, HR Guidance and Governance etc.
• Experience in building and maintaining relationships with external departments and entities.
• Ability to work well under pressure of time and resources, when required.
• Fair, honest and consistent in approach.
• Ability to self-management, and work independently when required, including prioritisation of tasks.
Desirable Criteria
• Qualification in a health sciences / related area
• Experience in clinical research, preferably at site level
• Experience in start up activities in clinical research
• Experience working in MND or neurodegenerative conditions
• Experience in working with new technologies
• Possess analytic and IT skills to support integration of digital technology with clinical care
