Our aim is to deliver excellent care, education and research for the benefit of our patients. Reflecting a commitment to exceptional quality and service, combined with a desire for continuous improvement and implementing best practice, Beaumont Hospital is actively working towards attaining the prestigious global accreditation standards set by JCI. The design of the hospital is almost an exact replica of that used in the building of the Cork University College Hospital (Wilton) in the early 1970s. The Hospital opened its doors to the public on 29th November 1987 following the closure and transfer to Beaumont of two city centre hospitals - the Charitable Infirmary in Jervis Street and St Laurence's (the Richmond).   Present   Today, Beaumont Hospital, incorporating St Joseph’s Raheny, stands as a major academic teaching hospital 5km north of Dublin City centre providing emergency and acute care services across 54 medical specialties to a local catchment area of circa 290,000 people. The Hospital is national referral centre for Neurosurgery and Neurology, Renal Transplantation, Cochlear Implantation, Mechanical Thrombectomy and Poisons Information. It is designated by the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) as an accredited Stroke Centre. The St. Joseph's Hospital Raheny site provides both medical and surgical inpatient care, day-care, outpatient, outpatient physiotherapy, radiology services, Care of the Elderly Rehabilitation and a 100 bedded Raheny Community Nursing Unit.   Beaumont Hospital is the principal teaching hospital and academic partner for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and enjoys close links with Dublin City University and other academic institutions in respect of its training and research activities. The Hospital has a complement of 1058 (IP & DC) beds and over 4,500 multidisciplinary staff. Following the establishment of 6 new Health Regions nationally, Beaumont Hospital is designated within HSE Health Region Dublin and North East. The new Health Regions will facilitate the delivery of integrated care pathways with community health services in its catchment area. By the end of 2024, existing Hospital Group and Community Health Organisation (CHO) structures will be stood down as the new Health Region arrangements are established. Beaumont Hospital, as a state body, is managed by a Board which is collectively responsible for the long-term sustainability of the Hospital, as set out in Regulation 4 of S.I.
